  1. Thanks for such a fun website and what a great business idea.

I went to a public school here in Australia but in a day when young ladies were taught to be just that. It was a Girls only High School and it was very hard to get into (you had to sit for exams and be interviewed to get in). As the school sat in a Business area these days it doesn't have to take it's students directly from the local area (it used to have homes near by in from the colonial days but over the years the suburbs moved outwards but the school remained).

We did all the usual academic subjects but we also did along with Home Economics various subjects that enabled us to gain vaulable social skills from public speaking to etiquette lessons and part of that course we learned to brew and serve a proper cup of tea and how to properly hold a tea party. Oh yes, the whole thing from how to write the invitations, set a theme, how to introduce people, what to serve, how to balance a cup of tea and plate of sandwiches or cakes. It was mainly to give you the skills to hold social fund raising events.

I certainy benefitted from these lessons even though I didn't marry a man with Social Standing but ended up having a Professional Career where all these skills were invaluable, from knowing the correct cutlery to use and how to eat your peas in public. I had to attend quite a few formal functions that the well to do men and women who I mised with would have been skilled for through their upbringing and private school educations but I was priviledged from my background to gain those skills through this Girls only Public High School.

My favourtie thing in retirement is to have people over for afternoon tea. I'm not well enough physically or wealthy enough to hold dinner parties but I can still Wow them with nice china and a few well baked goodies. A bit of luxury I can afford and a very nice past time, easy to do and your friends really appreciate the effort in the midst of a fast paced and busy lifestyles we lead today.

God Bless you and your family.
